Flash Fiction – Battle Cry

Hello dearest reader, find a seat at the table and gorge yourself on the tumescent offerings of another blog post!

This is another entry to the flash fiction competition offered by Carrot Ranch. The premise is to write a flash of 99 words based on their weekly prompt. This week’s is “warrior women,” and it’s a prompt I had a lot of fun with. I hope you enjoy!

Battle Cry

We will fight in the streets; we will fight in the boardrooms, the courts and the home. We will never surrender.

We have lived under their rule for millennia. But nothing lasts forever.

First we fought for the vote, then for the right to work. Now we fight for control over our bodies.

So grab your weapons warrior women – the pen is mightier than the sword. The sword is a man’s weapon, a big steel dick. Look how much good it did them.

And as we come to conquer the world they will fear our battle cry:

“Me too.”

  1. I use my blogs too, to keep track of stuff – that’s why I have three… most Carrot ranch stuff is at my
    Fiction place.
I started early on as a poet… still do that at the Jewels site. I’ve a longer verse site too.
I’m bookmaking you now at my Ranch Hands list. 🙂

I try to read everyone every week. Though that doesn’t always work. Another flash fiction place I enjoy is Sunday Photo Fictioneer. If you’d like that link I’d be happy to pass it on. There’s about a 200 word limit for those flashes. 🙂

I tend to what I call ‘mash’ prompts. I always have the links to all the prompt sites at the bottom of my post. I haven’t gotten to SPF this week yet… But as an example of a mashed prompt please enjoy:

        The Upside of the Downside

It also has a link to MLMM That has a prompt (different writing prompts for every day of the week. I don’t do them all. But I really enjoy wordles – word lists that you have to use the word list in your prose, poetry or fiction. A different type of challenge. Good luck 🙂
